The museum established by Kemal Sayal who is engaged in beekeeping for 39 years is located in Polonezköy. Kemal Sayal learned about beekeeping in the 1960s and he has a colony of 300 bees today. Sayal earns his living from beekeeping and he strived to share his earnings with people without any commercial interest, and two years ago, he established the small but surprising beekeeping museum in Polonezköy. Sayal also sells his own bee products such as honey, pollen and royal jelly in front of the museum.
The museum of the veteran beekeeper exhibits various beekeeping materials such as the queen bee’s grid, honey filtering machine, beeswax comb and knife, etc. The museum also contains flower pollens, and hives that show the creation process of the hive cells and the honeycomb. These products are ordered to show the stages in the honey’s production, and short information concerning their functions are presented below them. Moreover, the museum contains pure beeswax, pollen trap and special tools imported from Germany for use in beekeeping. The museum is open every day of the week in Polonezköy.
