Çubuklu was the garden of the Sultan. The vegetable gardens around here were overseen by the gardeners of the palace. The Sultan’s Palace was on a flatland near the coast, and a small grove called Çubuklu Garden, a dedicated hunting ground for the Sultan were in front of the garden. The cranberries of the Çubuklu Garden were especially famous. The Göztepe Stream that flows in the garden was used to produce the first soft drink in Turkey: Çubuklu Soda Pop. The Soda Pop was made famous with the name of Hasan Bey. 300 crates were produced daily in the summer of 1964. Nowadays, there are no cranberries nor soda pop in Çubuklu. But you can imagine the water, fruits and cranberries of the Çubuklu Garden while eating in restaurants overlooking the Bosphorus on Burunbahçe, or the Çubuklu Avenue.
